  European Preparatory Action for Security Research theme. Analysis of the social and legal acceptability of the technical proposals for automated surveillance of public areas. This involves local collaboration with Dr Ferryman and external partners including SAGEM and BAE Systems. Reading is the largest contractor attracting more of the funds than any other partner except the coordinator. The European Commission singled out the social, legal and ethical workpackage of this proposal as a model for future security research proposals.

Bioterrorism Resilience, Research, Reaction -- Supporting Activity Promoting Cooperation to Assess the BIO Threat and Organise a Collective and Comprehensive Response for EU Society and Citizens' Biosecurity. I am responsible for the principle social, legal and ethical analysis elements. Reading is also responsible for the dissemination workpackage.

I am responsible for the workpackage on social, legal and ethical analysis elements. Reading is also responsible for the dissemination workpackage, and is the recipient of more funds than any partner except the coordinator.
