Well, milk actually (bonus point if you know where the title of this post comes from). My local supermarket had a limited supply of milk today – rationed to one 1L carton per customer. The combini where I usually get my 2% semi-skimmed milk still has no supplies (the supermarket has 3.6% and 1.5% – I bought a 1.5%). However, it does look like the supply chains are getting back in order.

Tokyo Power (Tepco/Touden) have made their rolling blackout plans more fine-grained and split the five areas up into 25. Still no reports of these blackouts happening over the full area and time predicted, but as offices get back to closer to normal operation, and people drop out of compliant disaster mode and start using power more normally (it’s bound to happen, though we’re trying to keep our usage low as I’Um sure are quite  few others) they may become more apparent. Perhaps once they happen a few times people will return to being more rigorous, though perhaps also only if they’ve personally been affected, or maybe their close relatives. Human nature.

There were three large aftershocks today plus a number of minor ones, after relative quiet yesterday. RIC (Random is Clustered – Ah, I See) as Jack Cohen once repeated to me.

Life goes on. I managed to get back to doing some proper work today, but feel like I’m coming down awith a lurgy. A bad sore throat last night and feeling joint aches and mental disconnect this evening. I hope it’s not full blown flu. I’ve been innoculated, but that doesn’t cover all possible strains, just the most likely ones they think will hit. Hopefully I’ll be able to fight it off. I’ve fought off a few colds recently, though the one from the beginning of February, although it never fully developed into a serious head cold, did leave me a bit knocked over for most of that month. I think it slowed my metabolic rate, actually, meaning I didn’t lose any weight in February despite swimming every day and being pretty careful on the diet. Still, I’m now down to 80 Kilos, which isn’t bad since I started at approx 100 Kg in mid 2009. Only 5 Kg or so to go to the target. 75Kg is the nominal target but I’m now focussing more on my body shape than my eight per se. I still want to lose the last of the spare tire. That may go before I reach 75Kg due to the extra muscle from swimming all the time (though that might go a bit once I reduce the swimming to a couple of times a week once I’ve got the weight down and stable).
