Jan-Dec 2007 Visiting Professor, 明治大学 (Meiji University), Tokyo

I am currently on a research sabbatical from my permanent post at University of Reading in the UK. As part of this I have been appointed to the post of Visiting Professor at Meiji University in Tokyo, where I am working with Professor Kiyoshi Murata and his former PhD student Dr Yohko Orito (now an Assistant Professor at Ehime University) on a cross-cultural study on Japanese laws and attitudes to privacy, particularly of electronic data. This work is funded by a (UK) Royal Academy of Engineering "Global Research Award" as well as University of Reading and Meiji University.

2000-Present Lecturer at University of Reading

I am currently a lecturer with a permanent post within the School of Systems Engineering at University of Reading. The School offers degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybernetics and Electronic Engineering. My duties cover teaching and administration across all degrees in the School, as well as research.

Jul-Sep 2001 Visiting Research Fellow at the Universität des Saarlandes

In the summer of 2001 I undertook an EU-funded visiting research fellowship at the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany. This was part of the EU Fifth Framework network Calculemus.

1997-2000 Research Fellow at University of St Andrews

I was a research fellow employed on an EPSRC-funded project investigating the use of theorem proving software to support computer algebra calculation.
